Tournament Rules

1. Scope and nature

These rules govern user tournaments on GameBases. A tournament is a skill-based contest. The outcome is decided by performance under pre-published rules, not by a paid stake or by chance as the sole criterion of victory.

2. Free participation

Participation in user tournaments on GameBases is free. Stars cannot be used as an entry fee, stake, bet or to create a participant-funded prize pool. A tournament reward must be fixed and secured by the organizer or GameBases before registration opens.

3. Rewards

If a tournament offers a reward, its type and amount must be fixed before registration opens. The reward is funded and secured in advance by the organizer or GameBases and does not depend on participant count.

In particular, the following are allowed:

  • a tournament with no reward,
  • fixed Stars rewards funded by the organizer or GameBases,
  • fixed valuable physical prizes funded by the organizer or GameBases,
  • a combination of fixed Stars and physical prizes.

Stars received as tournament rewards remain Stars on the account; they cannot be cashed out to an ordinary user.

On tournament approval an immutable approval snapshot of rules and rewards is stored. After the first participant registers, rewards may not be worsened (reduce Stars, remove a prize or position, worsen delivery) and the winner-determination or tie-break method may not be changed.

4. Eligibility, country and age

Participation requires an active GameBases account and compliance with the specific tournament conditions (game, mode, region, minimum or maximum participants and other pre-published criteria).

The organizer may limit eligible countries. Physical prizes are delivered only to Slovakia (SK) and Czechia (CZ), unless the tournament states a narrower delivery scope within those countries.

An account may be created from age 13. A user aged 13–15 needs confirmation by a legal guardian before account activation and before tournament registration. For a winner under 18, guardian confirmation is required before Stars are released or a physical prize is shipped.

5. Participant limits

Each tournament has a pre-set minimum and maximum number of participants (players or teams). The tournament may not start if the minimum is not reached. Registration closes when the maximum is reached.

6. Registration and withdrawal

Registration takes place during the published opening and closing window. After registration closes or the tournament starts, withdrawal is generally no longer possible unless the specific tournament rules provide otherwise.

A no-show after the deadline or after the start may lead to elimination, a loss or another outcome under the tournament rules. There is no entry-fee refund because participation is free.

7. Deadlines and scoring

Registration, start, result-reporting and any appeal deadlines are published in advance or announced by the organizer in the tournament.

Scoring, tie-breaks and the final ranking follow the pre-published tournament rules and the chosen format. Ties are resolved by a published objective method (for example an extra tie-break match, head-to-head, series score difference, or a specific pre-published game metric). A random draw must not decide the winner or break a ranking tie. Earlier registration must not decide a winner, ranking or prize. Seed may break a tie only when seeding came from an objective published performance-based ranking — never when pairing was random.

The organizer or GameBases may adjust a result under the published rules in case of proven misconduct or a technical error. Results are confirmed by the procedure published in the tournament (including administrative confirmation where required).

8. Random pairing

Random pairing may only determine tournament bracket setup. Winner and rankings are decided by participant performance per pre-published rules.

9. Fair play and prohibited conduct

It is prohibited in particular to:

  • cheat, exploit or use unauthorized tools,
  • use multiple accounts to circumvent rules, a ban or participant limits,
  • manipulate results, collude on an outcome or intentionally lose,
  • harass, threaten or discriminate against participants,
  • breach the rules of the specific game or its publisher.

A breach may lead to disqualification, loss of reward entitlement, account restriction or further measures under the Terms of Use and moderation rules.

10. Disqualification

The organizer or GameBases may disqualify a participant for breach of these rules, the tournament rules, the game rules or for a security risk. A disqualified participant generally loses any reward claim for that tournament.

11. Technical failure

If the game, the publisher’s network service or GameBases fails, the organizer or GameBases may, according to the circumstances, replay or postpone a match or phase, adjust a result, or cancel or interrupt the tournament. The aim is a proportionate and transparent resolution, not an automatic cash compensation.

12. Cancellation and rescheduling

The organizer or GameBases may cancel or reschedule a tournament, in particular if the minimum participant count is not reached, in case of serious technical failure, a security risk or breach of rules by the organizer.

If a tournament is cancelled before rewards are distributed, reserved Stars rewards may be returned to the organizer according to the tournament’s internal finance records. Participants have no claim to cash compensation for participation itself.

13. Release and return of reserved rewards

Fixed Stars rewards are generally reserved from the organizer’s balance when the tournament is approved, so they are secured before registration. Unused reserved Stars may be returned to the organizer after cancellation, non-award or administrative closure. Awarded Stars rewards are credited to winners according to the results and tournament rules; for a winner under 18, only after guardian confirmation.

14. Physical prizes (SK/CZ)

Physical prizes are delivered by GameBases, the verified organizer, or a verified sponsor under the published delivery terms. Delivery is limited to Slovakia and Czechia unless the tournament sets a narrower scope within those countries.

The winner must never pay shipping or any extra fee to receive a physical prize. Shipping is paid only by GameBases, the verified organizer, or a verified sponsor.

The winner must provide correct delivery details within a reasonable time. If delivery fails for reasons attributable to the winner, the prize claim may lapse under the tournament rules. For winners under 18, guardian confirmation is required before shipment.

Public tournament pages show the prize provider’s name only; personal contact details of the provider are not published.

15. Complaints and appeals

An objection to a result, disqualification or reward handover must be raised without undue delay with the tournament organizer and, where needed, at admin@gamebases.gg. GameBases will assess the submission proportionately to the available evidence. This does not affect statutory consumer rights or the complaint procedure for covered performances.

16. Taxes

The reward recipient is responsible for assessing and meeting their own tax obligations under the laws that apply to them. This text does not declare an automatic tax exemption.

17. Game publisher rules

Participants and organizers must follow the rules, licence terms and competitive principles of the specific game and its publisher. A breach of publisher rules may lead to disqualification or cancellation of the tournament even if GameBases did not detect the breach first.

18. Relation to other documents

These rules complement the Terms of Use, Stars Rules, Golds and physical rewards rules, moderation rules and other published documents. In case of conflict, the specific tournament wording and these rules prevail for tournament mechanics to the extent not contrary to mandatory law.
